Paremata train station additional carparks

Residents will be pleased to know (if they haven't already noticed) that Greater Wellington (GWRC) has agreed to extend the station carpark by around 70 parking spaces, and preliminary work began at the end of March. The work is expected to be completed by the end of June to mid July.

GWRC decided to proceed with the carpark extension once the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) confirmed it is planning to ìnstall traffic metering lights to the northbound lane of the Paremata roundabout.  Work on the roundabout and carpark should be completed about the same time.

The station carpark has been at capacity for too long. The Association has been requesting GWRC to take action to relieve the problem for some time, so we are very hopeful that the additional carparks will greatly ease the difficulty residents have experienced in fìnding somewhere suitable to park close to the station, and ease congestion around Paremata School.
